What is stored

Each saved place is a small record made of:

• The page address, with tracking parameters such as utm_ codes removed.
• The page title and the site domain.
• Two or three short pieces of text that were in view when you saved, used to find the spot again.
• The id of the nearest element when the page provides one, and how far down the page you were.
• Your note, and any text you had selected.
• When it was saved and when you last returned to it.
• An optional reminder time and whether that reminder has fired.

Settings are stored the same way: the list of sites where automatic restore is on, and your blocklist.

How webpage access works

Pin This Page has access to regular HTTP and HTTPS webpages so its saved-place card can stay available while you browse, and so it can save or restore a position when you ask. The extension does not save a page or build a browsing-history log merely because you open it.

When you explicitly save, the extension reads the page address, title, current position, selected text and a few short text snippets near the top of the visible area. Those snippets are used only to find the same spot again.

The floating card may show a locally stored title, domain, note or quote from one of your saved places while you are on another allowed webpage. That display stays inside the extension and is not sent to the webpage or its operator.

Where it is stored

Everything is kept in the extension’s local storage on this device, using the browser’s own storage for extensions. It is not synced anywhere and never leaves the machine.

Removing the extension removes all of it.

What is never read

• Anything you type into forms, including password, payment and hidden fields.
• Pages in incognito windows.
• The browser’s own pages and the extension store.
• Sites whose address looks like a bank, a health portal or a sign-in page.
• Any site you add to your blocklist.

On excluded pages the save button, the shortcut and the selection button do nothing.

Network and analytics

The extension makes no network requests. There is no account, no crash reporting and no analytics. The only numbers that exist are the anonymous install counts the Chrome Web Store keeps for every extension.

This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties.

Permissions

The extension asks for the smallest set that lets it work:

• storage, to keep your saved places and settings.
• sidePanel, to show the library beside the page.
• scripting, to save, scroll to and highlight a position on a webpage.
• alarms, to schedule optional reminders on this device.
• notifications, to show those optional reminders.
• Access to HTTP and HTTPS pages, to keep the saved-place card available and to save or restore positions on regular webpages.

Chrome-protected pages are outside this access. You can revoke webpage access from the browser’s extension settings, but saving and restoring will no longer work on pages you remove.

Export and delete

Settings has an Export button that writes every saved place to a JSON file you own. Delete all removes every saved place after you confirm. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything as well.

Limited use

Pin This Page uses browser permissions and saved information only to provide or improve its single purpose: saving and restoring places on webpages. It does not sell, transfer or use that information for advertising, credit decisions or unrelated purposes. Because the information never leaves your device, the developer and other people cannot read it.
